Second Albans Project
This is a new custom home in the West University neighborhood of Houston, Texas. It is approximately 4,400 square feet air conditioned. The foundation is structural, with 12 foot deep piers, void boxes and lab tested steel reinforced concrete. The framing material is made of Douglas Fir walls and #2 yellow pine ceiling joists and roof rafters. The plumbing is made up of Type L copper with two tankless water heaters stationed in the garage. The AC system is 16 SEER with media filters. The attic is insulated with foam. Every room has built-in cabinets and desks. All of the closets are made of plywood, poplar pine and feature chrome clothes poles. All closets have a chest of drawers built in. The kitchen cabinets are custom made onsite. The beams in the family room are solid 10″x 10′ cedar. All drawers have full extension soft close slides. All interior doors are solid core with 8 footers downstairs and full 7 footers upstairs. The wood floors are #1 White Oak 3 1/4″ strips. The wrought iron handrails are custom made for the spiral stair cases. The windows are aluminum clad, Jeld Wen double hung with wood interiors. All window and cased opening are trimmed with wood jambs- no sheetrock returns. This house also features a beautiful summer kitchen on the back porch.
The project took approximately 11 months, and was completed in 2015.
